Marrakech is an amazing city full of culture, rich colours, flavours, and history. We can’t get enough of this city! Its mix of European, Middle Eastern, and African culture is what makes it such a unique place. From its ancient Medina to its lively square, Marrakech is a vibrant destination that many travellers love exploring. Not to mention, there’s plenty of things to see and do in Marrakech. Here are some of our favourites.

Check out Bahia palace
The Bahia Palace was built in the 19th century and showcases beautiful Arab and Islamic architectural styles. You’ll want to take in every little detail of the palace, including its intricate ceilings, colourful tiles, and beautiful lamps. Not only is the interior incredible, but the palace leads to a luscious garden filled with palm trees, fountains, and gorgeous tiled floors.

Explore Ben Youssef Madrasa
The Ben Youssef Madrasa was founded back in the 14th century, and was dedicated to the teaching of Islamic scripture and law. It was closed in 1960, but was refurbished and reopened to the public as a historical site in the 80s. It’s the largest Madrasa in the whole of Morocco, and is located right near the Medina, making it a popular spot for tourists. And just like the Bahia Palace, the architecture in the Madrasa is simply breathtaking.

Stay at a Riad in Marrakech
Moroccan guesthouses, also knows as riads, are famous for their indoor garden and courtyards. Don’t know what we’re talking about? Google it and we guarantee you’ll fall in love. On the outside these houses may seem dull, but as soon as you open the door, you’ll step into a whole different world. Staying at a riad is a luxurious way to experience Marrakech at its best.

Visit Majorelle Gardens
Majorelle Gardens is the beautiful garden of Yves Saint Laurent. Since its opening in 2001, it has become a huge tourist attraction in Marrakech. It’s 12 acres and is home to a deep ocean blue villa that makes every photographer happy. We recommend going as early as possible to avoid the crowds in order to take your best shots.

Wander through the Medina
Enjoy getting lost in the Medina, because it certainly is a maze. You’ll find everything from everyday goods, to handcrafts, to souvenirs. It’s like taking a step back in time, so make sure to take your camera! And if something catches your eye, don’t be afraid to bargain. Many prices are already doubled as they are, and shopkeepers are ready to bargain with you on a reasonable price.

Drink an orange juice in Jamaa El-Fna
If you’ve looked up photos of Marrakech you would have definitely seen this world famous square. It’s where the main market is and where all the orange juice and street food stalls are located. The square often gets packed with people, so if big crowds are too much for you, escape to one of the many rooftop cafes or restaurants that overlook the square.

Taste some traditional Moroccan Mint Tea
Sweet Moroccan tea is a local favourite and you can order it practically anywhere. Whether it’s at your hotel, or a cafe, make sure you try one! Not only does it taste great, but the way they present and serve it looks amazing too.

Relax at a Hammam
A hammam, also known as a Turkish bath, is the Middle Eastern variant of a steam bath. It’s basically a public bathhouse that is a great way to experience the local culture and relax at the same time. You can try out the high-end hammams and spas at La Mamounia or Selman Hotels, or go for an authentic and thorough scrub down at Hammam Dar el-Bacha. Be warned, the scrubs are very intense, so it can be a little painful, but they do a damn good job of cleaning your skin!
