5 amazing African adventures

Whilst everyone’s busy planning their European escapes, you might be wondering about heading over to a continent a little less crowded. You’ll definitely still get the heat, and you’ll sure get the culture, so here are 5 of our favourite places to head in Africa this year.

1. Sahara Desert camel ride

You’ve seen countless images of travellers having a great time riding camels over sand dunes, so it’s understandable you would want to experience it too. Easily accessible from the South of Morocco, your guide will walk you over varying gradients of sand dunes until you arrive at a Berber tent to spend the night under the stars amongst the dunes.

2. Table Mountain views, South Africa

Take a look over the breathtaking scenery from this amazingly flat mountain reaching heights of 1,086 metres above sea level. For the adventurers there are hiking paths available, and if that’s not enough there is the option to abseil too! Your view from Table Mountain includes the famous sites of Lion’s Head and Devil’s Peak, as well as a stunning view over Cape Town City.

3. Visiting the Danakil Depression, Ethiopia

Continuously the hottest place on Earth, the Danakil Depression in Ethiopia is an out-of-this-world experience. Actually referred to as another world, the shifting bubbling sulphur volcanoes not only create substantial 50+ degree heat, they also create an area of amazing sulphur formations coloured in bright yellow, green, and orange hues. You won’t want to miss this photo opportunity, as the formations move so much you’ll have some truly unique photographs!

4. Mount Kilimanjaro climb, Tanzania

Every year 30,000 people take on the task of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro, and it’s a brave task! Africa’s tallest mountain is best enjoyed slowly and with a lot of water to adjust to the altitude. You’ll need a fair bit of warm clothes and a tonne of perseverance, but who doesn’t want to claim they made the summit of Kilimanjaro.

5. Maasai Mara, Kenya

You’ll want to see animals in your African adventure so why not go to the best place for it; Kenya. The Maasai Mara is home to Lions, Cheetahs, Elephants, Zebra, Hippos, and the famous annual Wildebeest Great Migration from July to October. A considerably flat landscape allows visitors to have the best chances to view the wildlife, and if that’s possibly not enough then you can always go by helicopter for the best aerial views!

You’ll definitely want to upload these pictures, so you’ll need a good sim! Check out our Africa sim card options here.
